Programs that allow you to put YouTube and other web videos on your own computer (and into iTunes if you want)

 

  • YouTube Downloader - also converts flash videos (*.flv) so they will play in iTunes and on iPods
  • Video Download Toolbar - downloads video from virtually any site, not just YouTube (works with Internet Explorer)

 

Video Players   

 

  • FLV Player - plays flash & mp4 videos; very basic, but requires almost no time to learn how to use; good for playing downloaded YouTube videos on your laptop. (Use YouTube Downloader - see above - to convert flash files for iTunes & iPods)
  •  VLC Media Player - a program that plays virtually any media type (mp4, mov, wma, mv4, flv, etc.)
